Student committees

Our Student Council for Cultural Studies is part of the university policy. We mainly stand up for the interests of the students of our faculty. However, there are also other university political committees and we would like to introduce them to you in more detail here:

BrandSTuVe

The Brandenburg Student Council (BRANDSTUVE) is the union of the student councils of the Brandenburg universities. The state conference consists of representatives from all Brandenburg universities and takes place at least twice a semester. Once a semester, the BRANDSTUVE meets with the Minister of Science, Research and Culture of the State of Brandenburg to discuss current higher education policy issues. The task of the BRANDSTUVE is to coordinate the interests of the students and their student bodies and to represent them effectively. The Spokesperson’s Council is the official external representative of the BRANDSTUVE.

STUDENT PARLIAMENT

The Student Parliament (StuPa) is the highest decision-making body of the student body. The StuPa manages the budget of the student body, it elects the General Student Committee (AStA) and, for example, the student representatives for the Student Union. In the StuPa, students can learn a lot about parliamentary work. They can also make a decisive contribution to shaping the university. The StuPa consists of 21 members and is directly elected by the students every year. All enrolled students can stand for election. Either through the list of a university group or as an individual candidate.

General Students' Committee (ASTA)

The General Student Committee (AStA) is your representation at the Viadrina! We represent the students of the European University towards the university, the city and the state of Brandenburg. You have questions, a cool project or an important concern? Then contact us or come to one of our office hours.

The AStA currently consists of eleven different departments. Each department deals with its own topic. You can find all the departments in the “About us” section of the AStA website.

Student Council LAW

The Student Council Law (FSR Jura) is a student body elected by the students of the Faculty of Law. The tasks of the Student Council law include organizing events, supporting and advising students of the law faculty during their studies and representing the interests of all students of the law faculty internally and externally.

Among other things, it passes resolutions on teaching and research, on the establishment and discontinuation of courses of study, on comments on study and examination regulations, on statutes and regulations of the university, on the proposal for the election of members of the governing body of the university, and comments on the draft budget. With the exception of personnel matters, the meetings are open to the public.

Faculty council Cultural Studies

The Faculty Council for Cultural Studies is responsible for:

  • the enactment of the Faculty’s bylaws,
