Welcome to the European University Viadrina
Dear freshers,
Welcome to the European University Viadrina! Your start at the European University Viadrina marks an important milestone in your academic life and we are sure that you will have a fantastic time here.
Right from the start, we would like to point out an exciting opportunity to get to know your fellow students and your new surroundings better. We, the student councils of the three faculties of Cultural Studies (Kuwi), Economics (Wiwi) and Law (Jura), have put together a great introductory program that will give you an understanding of the diversity of our university and student life. From informative orientation days to entertaining social events, there is something for everyone.
We encourage you to actively participate in campus life and take advantage of the numerous opportunities to make new friends and broaden your horizons. The student councils of the three faculties of Cultural Studies (Kuwi), Economics (Wiwi) and Law (Law) are available to provide you with advice and support and are always there to answer your questions and concerns.
Let’s start this exciting journey together and make the European University Viadrina a place where you not only learn, but also grow, go beyond your limits and create unforgettable memories.

Get-Together at Kleist-Forum

Come to the get-together in the Kleist Forum! Here you have the chance to meet many people from the city and the university, including us from the Cultural Studies Student Council. In addition, the mayor of Frankfurt (Oder) René Wilke will also be there. This will be a good opportunity to talk about the connection between the city and the university and get first-hand insights. Enjoy the relaxed atmosphere, meet new people and exchange ideas. The get-together in the Kleist Forum promises not only fun, but also the opportunity to make valuable contacts and promote exchange between different actors. We’d love to see you there!

Fresher's Brunch for Kuwis

In order to get to know us all a little better, we start the second day with a brunch. With food and drink, you have the opportunity to meet new friends and talk in peace about your first day together at university, get to know each other or ask questions. Of course, we will also offer vegetarian and vegan alternatives. We look forward to seeing you!

We end the second evening of the introductory week with bar hopping. Together with your new fellow students we will visit six bars in Frankfurt (Oder). In every bar there is also a small special that is only valid for us students that evening. It starts at 6:00 p.m. in the forecourt in front of the Auditorium Maximum (AM) at Logenstraße 4. We look forward to seeing you!

On Wednesday, October 11th, 2023 from 6:00 PM, the cultural studies faculty, the master’s program in European Studies and the cultural studies student council invite you to the Kuwi-Fresher’s welcome evening in the Kulturmanufaktur in Frankfurt (Oder). In a relaxed atmosphere you can make your first contacts with snacks and good music. Your Dean of the Faculty of Cultural Studies Prof. Dr. Timm Beichelt will also be there.
Afterwards, from 10 PM, the celebration continues in Kamea. We look forward to seeing you!

To really celebrate your start at university, the Economics Student Council invites you to a cozy pizza evening on the roof of the Collegium Polonicum.
Regardless of whether you study economics or at another faculty – this evening is for all first-year students. It will be a great opportunity to get to know fellow students from different study programs and exchange first impressions.
There will be delicious pizza and a relaxed atmosphere so you can enjoy the evening to the fullest. The roof of the Collegium Polonicum offers great views and a perfect setting for making new friends.

Would you like to spend an unforgettable weekend with your new friends from university? Then come along on the first-year trip to Międzyzdroje on the Polish Baltic Sea. For just €61 you can travel with us to the Baltic Sea coast of our neighboring country and take part in many great activities during this time. We look forward to seeing you!
There are only a limited number of places for the freshmen trip. Participation is only valid after payment has been received.
